Number Four of My 14 Favorites from 2014

Number Four of My 14 Favorites from 2014

Hi Everyone!
Everyone was challenged on YouTube by Nathalie, TheBeautyDiva to come up with their favorite 14 items of 2014.  Most of mine were not makeup since I had just started my channel and had already talked about all my favorite makeup items.  So I decided to come up with a list of items that I used every day or that I would quickly replace if lost or broken.

I thought I would make a daily blog of each item one by one.

#4.  Velcro Rollers

My fourth and fifth items are also hair related.  My hair is so fine that it will not hold a curl and falls flat against my head.  I found a way to tease my hair that gives me volume.  It involves using Velcro rollers.

I bought mine at Albertson’s, but you can find these at many different stores.  Here is a link to Walmart’s online purchasing.  The cost here is around 8-9 dollars.  They are worth that to try them if you have fine hair like mine.

I take one section of my hair starting at my crown with my cow lick.  My cow lick is my nemesis.  With each section do the following in this order:
  1. Tease
  2. Hairspray
  3. Go over tease with flat iron
  4. Wrap in a Velcro roller

With my hair cut in a bob, this is the only way I can wear it so that it will stay in that cute bob shape.  Otherwise my hair will go in many different directions.

#3.  Fake Hair Pieces (Crazy Hair)

The third item making my favorite list for 2014 were my Fake Hair Pieces.  My granddaughter calls them my crazy hair.  I have bought several brands and several colors over the years. I color and highlight my hair so having several in slightly different colors helps me match my hair.  Colored hair fades and I have some that vary from dark to light, some that have more red tones and some with more dark tones.

These will really make your life easier.  It is so fast and easy to get ready in the mornings when you don’t have to worry about your hair.
I just put my hair up in a high pony tail and bobby pin or clip the hair piece in place.

Here are some pictures with my hair up this past year.

You can buy these at Sally’s or order online.  I have bought the following brands:

#2.  AeroPilates

My second favorite item for 2014 was my AeroPilates Machine.  I have had it for several years now.  When I first received it I was about 35 pounds heavier.  Since you have to “pull” your own weight it was much more difficult for me then.  Now, I am accustomed to using it but I still “feel” the workout each time.  And if I do the workout every day I really feel like my muscles are toned and stretched at the same time.  It is especially good for the core muscles.
I prop mine up against a wall of my extra bedroom so it doesn't take up much space at all when not in use.

I highly recommend getting this machine or any machine that you will be inspired to use every day.  I bought my AeroPilates from QVC. I did not buy the most expensive version.  I started with this one and told myself I can always trade up at a later date.  But this one is still going strong.

#1.  IPad/YouTube

I love my IPad and it is how I stay up to date with all my social media.  My phone is too small and my PC isn’t mobile.  I even use it as a camera and video camcorder.  I then use it to edit my videos using IMovie.

I have a tripod and attachment that hold my IPad.  I bought the following attachments for my IPhone and IPad.  I really like them and recommend them.  The website is called Caddy Buddy.  The tripod is separate and I bought it at Best Buy.

I filmed our family’s Christmas gathering and made a mini movie of Christmas 2014.  I depend on YouTube tutorials to show me how to use IMovie.  I am still trying to learn Movie Maker on my PC.

Amateur photography and videography can be great hobbies.
You are never too old to learn something new!

Happy New Year! Inspiration Board for Resolutions!

Hello Everyone!
Happy New Year!

I don't normally officially make New Year's Resolutions.  Earlier this year I started an inspiration board and thought this would be a good time to share it.  I posted a video on YouTube about why and how I made it.  I will try to link that below.

I am so inspired by Pinterest and YouTube that I wanted a "board" to remind me of ideas about fashion, recipes, makeup, travel, faith, fitness, etc.

I had two canvases in storage so I decided to make those my backdrop.  I didn't want anything permanent hanging up in my home office.  I wanted to reuse these canvases and also wanted to change pictures and topics as my inspiration changes.

I decided to cover the canvas using faux leather.  It would match my decor and I could use it later for family pictures or other projects.

I used scrapbook paper to cover the cardboard and used PowerPoint to make my titles.

Here is my board in progress.

Here is my board almost finished.  I have left room for more inspiration.

GO MAKE 2015 THE BEST YEAR EVER!
Many Blessings to you!
Kathy

Christmas in Key West, Florida

Hello Everyone!

I hope each of you had a wonderful Christmas!  We spent a very quiet Christmas in Key West, Florida at Boyd's RV Resort. Unfortunately it did rain every day.  But it didn't rain ALL day every day.  Wearing flip flops and shorts was a nice change of pace too.

It took us three days to get there from Louisiana.  The traffic was neck to neck all the way to the southern most tip of the United States.  We saw license plates from all over the US and Canada. The campground told us that Christmas is their busiest season.

We celebrated an early Christmas with our families before leaving for Florida.  I hope to post some pictures once I get a good internet connection.  I know my pictures will not do the scenery justice. When it is cloudy, the water doesn't look as turquoise,

On our trek back toward  Louisiana, we have found a new destination paradise.  We stayed near St. Petersburg and I really loved the area.  There is so much to do.  It is closer than Key West, so we will probably come back here in a few months.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Kathy
