Outfit of the Day and My Sugar Detox

HI EVERYONE!

Sorry I keep being absent.  I have been so busy at work.  We are opening up a new division and that takes time.  But we have hired someone new and hopefully that will give me more time to create blogs and YouTube videos.

I began my Sugar Detox at the end of February when I could no longer COMFORTABLY wear some of my pants and jeans.  I had gained everywhere but mostly in my belly.  I lost 4 pounds in two weeks HOWEVER this was mostly water weight.  It took another 2-3 weeks to show up in inches.  Please watch my YouTube videos for more details.  I am slowly adding in forms of sugar into my diet.  But on the whole I am trying to forego the empty calories of sweets.

This was my first video.

This is my latest video and the final update.

My Outfit of the Day was made entirely from shopping my closet.  My shoes were the inspiration.  I bought them from JC Penney about 10 years ago when I was a teacher.  They are SO comfortable.  They are brown slides with silver and amber stones.  I chose to wear brown and white to go with them.  I love the combination of brown and white.  My white dress is from Easter last year.  (I bought my granddaughter a white dress too.)  I bought mine at Walmart, believe it or not.  The brown blazer was purchased at Sears about 10 years ago too.  The same season I purchased the favorite shoes.  The dress is eyelet and the blazer is too.  It is not the same design but I think they blended and looked very nice together.  The necklace was bought at a jewelry party and the enhancer is from QVC.  I switched out my winter wardrobe for my summer wardrobe and found these old but new treasures.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blogs.
I really appreciate it.

Fitness Apps for Your Phone or Tablets

HI EVERYONE!

Sorry I have been absent for so long!  I hope everyone is having a great day!

During my tooth and jaw dilemma I ignored my New Year’s resolution or goal to become more active.  Shame on me.  But I have a new found resolve thanks to my new phone app.  In the summer and fall I used my FitBit bracelet but after a few months I couldn’t get it to charge anymore.  But it helped me learn the walking distance or routine I needed to do to attain eight to ten thousand steps.

Now, I have an app that came with my new Iphone 6 plus.  I really love this phone.  I never fell in love with my Iphone 5 by the way.  Loved the 4.  I digress.  I was talking about the health app.  It tracks my steps and miles.  You do have to carry it with you but don’t we all carry our phones with us anyway?  In the summer I will have to find something to wear that has a pocket.  For now I am wearing a jacket or coat because the weather has been crazy!  Brrrr….  Below I have taken a screen shot of one day I walked 6422 steps.  It will tell you the steps you took for the day and the distance.  It also breaks it up by the week and by the month.

It even registers my jumps on my Urban Rebounder!

There are many, many fitness apps out there now.  Check the out if you want to have something that motivates you to move more.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blogs.
I really appreciate it.

Are Organics Worth It? My Fresh Market Haul

Are Organics Worth It?  My Fresh Market Haul

Hi Everyone!

I see others do these hauls, so I thought I would do one too.  I love to shop at our Fresh Market store here in Lafayette.  It is my
"happy place".

I buy almost all my meat from this store because they have a large selection of grass fed, non antibiotic meats.  Here is a picture of the artwork with sausage.  They made a pig display.

They also have a large selection of organic produce.

I was on an antibiotic for what they thought was an abscessed tooth.  Antibiotics destroy both good and bad bacteria in your gut so I bought some probiotic drinks and some sauerkraut to try to build up the good bacteria again.

A Mild Winter Day Outfit

HI EVERYONE!

I wore this outfit on a very warm day in the middle of our southern winter.  Please don't hate me because it reached into the 80's one day.  It was only one day.
I took advantage of the mild weather and wore this short sleeve t-shirt with my shooties.
This is one of the shirts I bought in Florida at the Macy's after Christmas sale.  Yay, for an opportunity to wear it!  I love blouses with the chiffon trim on the bottom.  It just adds a touch of girly and whimsy to a t-shirt or sweatshirt.

A

This outfit was just fun.  So I had to put a ponytail with it.  My hair isn't long enough for a ponytail so I have to use an extension that I have that attaches to my crown.
It gives me a short but much thicker ponytail than my real hair would allow.
I have to pin my hair up in the back because it is so short.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blogs.  I really appreciate it.

Outfit of the Day, Fashion Over 50, Toothache, Chit Chat

Outfit of the Day, Fashion Over 50, Toothache, Chit Chat

HI EVERYONE!

I hope you are having a wonderful day!

In this picture I am wearing Spanx Black Leggings from Dillards.
The Black lace top is from Crackle Barrel Country Store and Restaurant.  They didn’t have a medium so I bought a large.  I probably should have returned it.  But it is lovely so I will try to make it work.  Because it is on the large side I wore another top underneath.

I have a long lace camisole underneath that I purchased from Target.  It is extremely long and this is the first time I am wearing it because of that.  It is also a racer back style.

My black ankle boots are from DSW and the brand is Impo.  I have spoke about these on my YouTube channel.  They are so comfortable I could actually run in them if my life were in danger.

I have a tooth that is giving me problems.  I have to go to an endodontist to have an old root canal reworked.  They will drill through my crown to get to the problem.  Sounds terrifying!  I am not looking forward to it but I don’t want this pain either.   I am on an antibiotic and my appointment isn't until next week.  Eek.

I have been trying to stay focused on some of my resolutions or goals for this year.  I do walk in the evenings if I get home in time or if the weather allows.  I need to read my Bible more than just in church.  I also need to concentrate on eating more vegetables.  How are you doing?  Comment below if you wish to chit chat.

Number Fourteen of My 14 Favorites from 2014, Plus Outfit of the Day

Number Fourteen of My 14 Favorites from 2014

Hi Everyone!
Everyone was challenged on YouTube by Nathalie, TheBeautyDiva to come up with their favorite 14 items of 2014.  Most of mine were not makeup since I had just started my channel and had already talked about all my favorite makeup items.  So I decided to come up with a list of items that I used every day or that I would quickly replace if lost or broken.

Nathalie's channel link:

I thought I would make a daily blog of each item one by one.

#14.  Coconut Oil

My last but certainly not least favorite item for 2014 is Organic Virgin Coconut Oil.
I had read so much about the benefits of coconut oil that I thought why not try it. I am glad I did because I have found many uses for it.  I have even oiled my door hinges with it when I didn't want to go to the barn for WD40.

I use it to cook with. It adds flavor when I stir fry my sweet potatoes or yams.
When I am hungry for something sweet this is what I try to eat instead of reaching for a cookie or a piece of cake.

I use it in my tea.  I don’t use it every day, but I try to put a teaspoon in my tea at least once a week.  It is most delicious in hot chocolate.  I will sometimes warm up chocolate almond milk and put a teaspoon in that.

I use it for deodorant.
I found a recipe on Pinterest and I use it for my deodorant since regular deodorant makes my underarms swell up.

I have heard that consuming coconut oil helps with dementia.
It is also used in the old fashioned method of “oil pulling”.

I use it as a skin moisturizer.  I put a dab on any eczema breakouts I have and also put some on as a lip conditioner.  When I wear stubborn mascara I use it as a makeup remover.

I am no expert but I prefer using this product over petroleum based products.

Here is an outfit I put together for church this morning.

The boots are Naturalizers from last year.  They are so comfortable because they have a kitten type heel.  The pants/leggings are Eileen Fisher from last year.  The layered tops are again BOTH from Cracker Barrel Country Store Restaurant.  I love long, flowy tops and some can get really expensive.  But the ones I purchased at Cracker Barrel have all been 39.99.  When compared to Designer Brands this price is reasonable.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blogs.
I really appreciate it.

Have Fun On This Road of Life!!

God Bless,

Kathy
